How we review tools

Our goal is simple: help buyers make better software decisions with clear editorial standards, practical review criteria, and an honest correction process.

Editorial independence

SubstiTool aims to evaluate software based on buyer usefulness, not paid placement. Inclusion in the directory does not guarantee favorable coverage, and sponsored treatment does not override editorial standards.

How tools are selected

We prioritize tools that are relevant to active software buying journeys, show clear category fit, and provide enough public information for a useful profile. We may also add tools in response to reader requests, submissions, and notable market demand.

Review methodology

We look at product positioning, pricing context, best-fit use cases, trade-offs, category relevance, and how clearly a tool can be compared against alternatives already in the directory.

Sponsored listings policy

SubstiTool does not promise rankings, guarantees, or coverage in exchange for payment. If sponsored opportunities are introduced later, they will be clearly labeled and separated from editorial judgment.

Update policy

We revisit listings and editorial pages as products change, categories evolve, and readers flag new information. Pages may be updated to reflect pricing changes, positioning updates, category shifts, or corrected details.

Correction requests

If you see something inaccurate, email support@substitool.com with the page URL, the correction, and any supporting detail that helps us verify the change quickly.

Need a correction or want to submit a tool?

Send correction requests to support@substitool.com. If you want a product considered for coverage, use the Submit Tool page for the current manual review workflow.
